What's with all these people using scooters now? People of all ages all over the street. They don't use sidewalks. I thought scooters were for little kids. Can't they afford regular transportation?

Someone's going to get killed or mambed and scooters will be restricted.
I lived an hour from Amish Country and you should see what these Amish buggies do. Accidents and deaths. If the President got wind of what they do he would outlaw them in a heartbeat. I passed 10 buggies in June when I went to Lancaster and they are dangerous.

How are they dangerous? They are visible. They don’t appear out of no where.

I see them in Indiana Amish country and they seem fine. Not like they ride in Manhattan.

How would president outlaw horse and buggy? What would Amish use?

I haven't noticed it that much where I am but when I go to the city it does seem dangerous. My city has done bike lanes and I just think anyone who travels in them and thinks they are safe to be missing a couple of brain cells. Trucks constantly move over to park with little warning right through the lane.

People using scooters don't pay attention to traffic lights and don't use sidewalks. Same with these electronic bikes. Someone's going to get creamed.
The accident and death rates for Amish buggies are sky high. They use highways and are difficult to navigate. They have their beliefs about technology and so do Americans. I guess who's to say who's right.

My municipal government recently put scooters around the town. It seems like the idea is mainly for people to use them to get to and from the train station. Unfortunately, a lot of people, especially teen guys, that aren't exactly careful when using them. I do think we're going to see accidents here too. My husband and I are being extra careful about walking to avoid being hit by one and also to avoid hitting one with the car. They often ride in the bike lanes and sort of appear out of nowhere when we're trying to turn into a parking lot.

People magazine is always reporting tragic accidents of beautiful young people on scooters and ebikes. Ebikes are a problem because when does it become a motorcycle with laws?

I don't like the e-scooters either. People of all ages riding them seem to feel entitled; they ride on sidewalks and almost never obey stop signs & it's a tossup whether they will decide to obey a traffic light or not. Some of the people riding them are kids, but others are definitely adults behaving badly on their e-scooters. I'm afraid I'll get run over when I go walking by one of them. They are definitely traffic hazards!

Even my small town has e-scooters. But they got rid of them for all the reasons y’all mentioned. There’s still private e-scooters, skateboards and bikes, most of who ignore the rules of the road. Just the other day I saw a scooter blow though a stop sign. And bikes, don’t get me started!

@Nammu It would be so awesome if my town would pass a law like that! Sadly, it would probably take a fatal accident and probably not even that (being that this is Texas!).

I’ve seen these unicycle type things and I don’t get the advantage other than “I look cool” (dumb). It’s bad enough juggling cars, motorcycles, bikes, and pedestrians in some spots ATVs and snowmobiles as it is.

Amish buggies are worse than scooters. I tried to pass a buggy last summer and it was going 20 mph and followed him for 2 blocks before I could pass. They're out on the road at sunrise 6AM and on Sundays going to church.

Automobiles are the problem rather than electric scooters and bikes. One should have to park the car at the edge of the urban area. Pedestrian outdoor malls make for livable cities.
