First of all I call this lip nose breathing. Where my lips are closed but my teeth aren't. So when I exhale air comes out through my lips and make popping sounds. Thankfully this doesn't happen as much as it used too. This has been going on since the beginning of this month

I think about my breathing then my breath holds against my will after exhaling. I have to force myself to breathe. It's gotten a lot worse in the past week. This has been happening since March this year.

Sometimes my mouth just opens, especially when I'm trying to sleep. Going on a few months.

Little bits of saliva leak out of my lips sometimes. Gotten worse recently. Happening for a few
months.

All of these body things cause me great fear and rob my peace. Does anyone else's body do some of these things? If so how do you manage it? Or have you cured it?
Hugs from:

Thanks for this!

I think that happens to me. I routinely have leaks when I am sleeping. Isn't that why they have mouth tape? Because some people sleep with their mouth open?

No popping sounds though.
Thanks for this!

Thanks for your input. I've never heard of mouth tape. I'll have to get some.

I can only attempt yo explain the saliva leaking from the corners of your mouth part. Are you on any new psclychiatric medications? Some of them can cause it. My late mother was on high doses of amitriptyline and she had saliva pooling in the corners of her mouth. Some people on the Bipolar forum here reported drooling duri g the night from Clozapine or other drugs. Finding the pillow has wet spots in the morning from saliva.

Do you have a PCP? A prescribing psychiatrist?

I recently started taking Buspirone. Yes I have both a PCP and a prescribing psychiatrist.

Apparently, this medication typically causes dry mouth and, atypically/rarely, the opposite side effect of drooling. You will get more responses from people taking this drug on Reddit (look for a subreddit dedicated to this drug, if it is available), than on here. Not many people read these forums these days.

Do you have a spreadsheet or a note where you track when you start new drugs, which side effects pop up, do they get better or worse over time? Relying solely on memory makes it hard to track, and a written document is a better tool. Memory fades over time.

Drooling can also be a neurological symptom, although I hope it is not the case for you.

I don't have all this written down. I have to rely on memory. But it's a good idea to start writing it down. I hope it's not neurological too.

I hope it isn't. Yes, once you start keeping track of it in some written form, you will be able spot patterns.
