Mine is always turned around facing her computer. Not sure why but I had another therapist who would fool around on her computer when we were meeting.
Maybe I stare at them and they get freaked out. My mom says they are being weird when they don’t face me.

old way - therapist would sit watching me and with their pen and paper write down what I was saying, what the treatment plans and goals are, all kinds of stuff. then later they would type up the session notes or give them to the receptionist to type up, then those session notes forms would be taken to the file folder with my name and case number on it. that file folder is located in a different room in the building called a filing room. where here were lots and lots of file drawers with names and numbers on them. the therapist would put the file in the correct file drawer. if someone wanted to see their file they would have to schedule days to a week to give the receptionist or therapist time to go get that file out of he drawer. everything is computerized now so my therapist can just go to her computer, log on, find her files app, find my files and right then and there with me there knowing what she is typing into my file do the session notes with me, do the treatment plans and goals right then and there with me. theres no waiting to see the files, theres no session notes being passed to the receptionist for filing, and I know right away what my file contains because Im right there as my therapist is typing. sometimes I even ask her to say aloud what she is typing into my file for session notes so that if she is misunderstanding me, I can correct that misunderstanding right away. it does not bother me at all that sometimes my therapist needs to have her eyes on the file and computer instead of me. maybe you can ask your therapist to use pen and paper and look at you, and write their session notes that way so they are always sitting in front of you looking at you instead of a computer file with your name on it. |
